Construction Pants
Construction sites generate enormous amounts of waste. Much of it gets recycled in energy-intensive processes. I wanted to see if I could upcycle some materials with minimal energy effort. By creating a pair of straight-cut pants from a new material, construction waste finds a new purpose in everyday life.
The pants take inspiration from the materiality and texture of painter‘s felt and packing blankets. I used dust protection nets from scaffolding, recycled textile fibers from natural insulation, and sewing thread.
